Departure
All participants are required to depart the U.S. with their group.
Return
It is possible to request a return at a later date. Language & Friendship’s policies for alternate return arrangements include details regarding requirements and additional costs, and vary according to the type of traveler. L&F will send a copy of the Policy for Alternate Air Return Arrangements & the Request for Alternate Air Return, via email, once the enrollment deadline has passed.
Please contact L&F to request the policy/form needed. Be sure to specify one of the following:
- High school student
- Middle school student
- Elementary school student
- Teacher/Leader
- Adult traveler
Deadlines for submitting requests: January 10 for summer programs (ask for deadlines for other seasons)
Note: Requests must be submitted on an L&F form – Request for Alternate Air Return.
Frequent Flyer Miles
The use of frequent flyer miles is not possible with group travel.
Group airline contracts do not consistently allow accrual of frequent flier miles. Some group contracts and airfares allow zero miles and others allow limited miles, but none offer full mileage accrual.
Airline Passes
Anyone wishing to use an airline pass must submit their intent in writing to their L&F Staff Coordinator 6 months prior to departure. The participant must be able to provide written proof of a confirmed seat on the same flights as the group.
Please read the complete Frequent Flyer/Airline Pass Policy.
Luggage
View details of L&F’s luggage recommendations and a suggested packing list here.
Flight Delays
L&F cannot be responsible for costs incurred due to flight delays or cancellations. The airline representatives on site at the airport are responsible for rebooking. Your L&F coordinator will provide support as possible. Note: If the problem is mechanical, the airline is responsible for meal vouchers (and hotel, if needed). If the problem is weather-related or beyond the airline’s control (air-traffic control strikes, volcanic ash, etc.), the airline is not obligated to be responsible for meals or lodging.
