Opportunities for Individual Students
INDIVIDUAL IMMERSION FAMILY STAY
Language & Friendship is pleased to offer motivated language students the opportunity to live with a host family in France, Germany, Spain, Costa Rica, or Argentina for 3 to 4 weeks during the summer. Our partners in these countries are personal friends and colleagues of Language & Friendship and have extensive experience arranging family-stay programs.
Eligibility: Students must have completed 2 or more years of language study; must maintain good academic standing; must be in excellent health; and must be recommended by their language teacher.
Inclusions:
- Roundtrip airfare between major U.S. cities and destination country
- Coordination of family-stay arrangements
- Transportation to/from host family community with accompanying escort
- Presence/support of local family-stay coordinator within destination country
- Medical/accident insurance; limited cancellation protection
- Preparation materials
Dates: Individuals may indicate preferred departure and return dates and every effort will be made to accommodate requests. Dates within June and/or July are typically best.
GROUP TRAVEL + FAMILY STAY
For students who would like to participate in a group travel and family-stay program, and their language teacher is not planning to take a group abroad, or their school does not have enough interest to form a group, Language & Friendship offers the opportunity to join another L&F school group.
Eligibility: Students must have completed 2 or more years of language study; must maintain good academic standing; must be in excellent health; and must be recommended by their language teacher.
Expectations: Preparation is key to a successful experience! Individual students traveling with a group are expected to participate in pre-program preparation activities with their assigned travel group.
HOSTING OPPORTUNITIES
Individuals who are interested in a cultural experience may also have the option of welcoming a student from France, Spain, or Switzerland for 2 – 4 weeks in spring or summer. Hosting allows the the entire family to share in the exchange of cultures and is also a good way for an individual student to prepare for their own future family stay and to establish an international connection.
